Nicola Stead is a socially engaged artist and facilitator based in Glasgow, Scotland. Engaging with local communities within Scotland, people and their stories are at the heart of her work. Through a process built around meaningful connection and participation her work aims to create opportunities for previously untold stories to be shared authentically, illuminating the collective human experience, and exploring a sense of place.

Nicola recently won the Portrait of Britain Award, with her winning portrait displayed across the UK as part of a nationwide public exhibition throughout January 2022. Nicola's work has also been exhibited in the Royal Scottish Academy, Streetlevel Photoworks, Visual Arts Scotland and the Glasgow Women's Library, as well as being published nationally in The Guardian and Source Magazine.
